The breathtaking Castello di Velona presides high on a hill overlooking the beautiful Val d’Orcia and the distant summit of Mt. Amiata, Tuscany’s highest mountain. This 11th century castle was restored in 1997 and converted into a boutique luxury hotel. The castle is steeped in history, its strategic position near Montalcino made it the site of many battles between the Sienese and Florentine Republics.

The hotel consists of 22 suites and two double rooms, each unique and equipped with all the modern comforts. All rooms have fireplaces, antique furnitures and excellent views of the Tuscan countryside below. All suites are air conditioned, telephones, satellite television, full stocked mini-bar and a safe for valuables.
