Originally a Dominican monastary dating back to the beginning of the 15th Century - described as a place of incomprable beauty by the famous
author Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, the five star San Domenico Palace Hotel is one of the finest hotels in Sicily.
Historical patrons such as Wagner and Guy de Maupassant found inspiration in the hotel's luxuriant gardens, where fragrant
orange blossoms, ros and jasmine bloom in striking contast to the snow capped backdrop of Mount Etna. Today, this unique

The San Domenico Palace has 97 rooms and 8 suites. The new wing, built in 1896, has pink marble bathrooms and sea view
terraces. The older wing includes the original monks' cells that have been converted into the finest rooms - with antiques
and brilliant bathrooms - lush furnishings which must have the old monks spinning in their graves!
The hotel has four wonderful restaurants. Les Bougainvillees for traditional cuisine, Principe Cerami for seasonal gourmet
dining, and the Giardino dei Limoni the pool side restaurant serving informal seafood and Sicilian specialties. There is
also the Lounge Oratorio dei Frati for light meals and cocktails. The San Domenico Palace has a heated outdoor pool open
from April to October, state of the art fitness center, and a small but excellent spa.
