Twenty five minutes north of Rome's airport, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, is the magnificent five star La Posta Vecchia. Originally a private seaside villa constructed in 1640 over the reamins of the Roman Empire town of Alsium, the building was purchased in 1960 by famed oil tycoon, art collector and playboy Jean Paul Getty. Getty restored the villa and added furniture acquired from princely homes. During the restoation of the villa, the ruins of a large Roman villa were uncovered and these now form the core of the small archaeloglical museum in the hotel's basement. The present owner bought the villa and its furnishings and converted the villa to a fantastic luxury hotel complete with every modern comfort.

La Posta Vecchia features nine double bedrooms and eight suites. Many of the guest rooms are decorated with Carrara marble bathtubs, Venetian lamps and Gobelins tapestries. Each room is of the utmost quality and the service is impeccable.
